What is an eating disorder & what kinds are there?
An eating disorder is when you either have to much control of what you eat, meaning little to no food, or not having enough control over what your eating. People who have "anorexia nervosa" tend to think that they are not "thin" enough, and obsess over what they put into their bodies. They lie when asked if they have eaten anything, or even pretending to eat. Differences in appearence is also notable, as they have lost a dramatic amount of weight, saying they are not thin enough, & are very critical of their appearance. The risks are deadly if not noticed & treated. Anorexia is a classified as a mental health disorder because it is all in the brain, & can be treated with group therapy, rehabilitation centers, and a suportive enviroment.
Bulimia Nervosa is the second most usual eating disorder, & one of the worst. Its like a love/hate relationship with food & your body. They usually stick to a stick diet for a short time, then they give in & binge on food, & then they get guilty after eating so much food they "purge" (throw it up). It is a known fact that purging does not prevent weight gain! This could be the reason people suffering from bulimia keep doing it again, because they are still gaining weight. Notable symptoms of bulimia are no control over eating, eating large amounts at one sitting, & switching between fasting & over-eating. It is usual easy to tell after someone has finished purging, as there maybe left overs & the smell of vomit. It is harder to tell if someone is bulimic because they are not "underweight" as a result of the binging. Admitting that you have a problem is the first step to seeking help, as well as talking to someone, staying away from thing that will trigger binging & purging, and seeking professional help.
The third & fourth most notable eating disorder is binge eating & emotional eating. Everyone enjoys that nice full feeling after eatinga little to much than you should have, but when you have an eating disorder, you binge all the time. It is mostly triggered by stress or negative emotions, & afterwards they usually feel worse than they did before eating. Binging is an impuse to eat everytime something negative effects you. Unlike bulimia, they don't feel the need to make up for over-eating, resulting in being over weight or obese. Normally eating infront of others, but over-eating when alone is usually the case, & having no planned mealtime.'
Diabetes, heart desease, high blood pressure, & certain types of cancer are all effects of binge eating and emotional eating. Causes of its are usually biological, hereditary, & even social enviroment. Stopping binge eating is as simple as managing stress, fighing boredom, getting enough sleep, & a support from family & friends.
